Our Mission

    • To ensure clients and their families have access to the support services and facilities necessary for the care of the terminally ill by establishing and operating a 10 bed, residential hospice with a quiet, home-like environment that will serve as a comfort to all.
    • To foster development of the highest standards of End of Life Care.
    • To support and enhance educational opportunities for volunteers and caregivers providing End of Life Care.
    • To promote, through education and communication, the understanding that End of Life Care is vital to the health and welfare of our Community

Philip A. Russel
President

Managing Director of Integracare Inc., a company dedicated to providing private, high quality nursing care and professional development education to the health care industry; past President of The Rotary Club of Toronto-Leaside, past president of the Leaside Rotary Charitable Foundation and past Commander of the Toronto Commandery of the Order of Saint Lazarus and Trustee of the Governor General's Horse Guard Foundation.

David A. Jarvis
Vice-President

A  partner in the law firm of  Beard Winter LLP, practicing since 1978; former member of The Ontario Board of Management for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and the Toronto District Advisory Board; Vice-Commander of the Toronto Commandery of the Order of Saint Lazarus; the Halliburton Club (Boy Scouts), and Ridley College Association

Martha S. Russel
Director

As a nurse, educator and currently Managing Director of Integracare Inc., Martha brings her knowledge of Hospice/Palliative Care to the Foundation.  Her experience working in the Ministry of Health, and her work on more than 20 community, provincial, national and international boards and working committees has given her a vast experience from which to draw.  Within the Order of Saint Lazarus, Martha serves as the Hospitaller for the Toronto Commandery and the Vice-Chair of the National Palliative Care Project Committee.  She is also a past President of Volunteer Toronto.

Jacqueline A. Wood
Director

Chairperson of Hospice of the Toronto Commandery of the Order of Saint Lazarus, Jacqueline has been active in the Hospice field for over 20 years. She began as a volunteer at King Hospice in 1983. She was a Board member and volunteer at Mountain Area Hospice, in Asheville, North Carolina from 1990-1994, a Board member and volunteer at Hospice St John in Denver from 1994 to 1999, and has been active in fund raising for the financial support of Toronto area hospices by the Order of St Lazarus in Toronto from 1999 to the present time. She is a member of the Order of St. Lazarus and   the Hospitaller's Committee of the Order, and is a Director of The Toronto Commandery Foundation Inc. Jacqueline is also a Dame of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.

LCol Keith Lawrence
Director

Keith is a fulltime officer of the Canadian Forces, currently based in Toronto. He has extensive operational experience in Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. A member various organizations such as the Royal Canadian Legion, the Toronto Human Society and the Royal Canadian Military Institute, he has completed over twelve years service with The Order of St. John and is actively involved within his own community. LCol Lawrence is a Past Commander of the Toronto Commandery of the Order or Saint Lazarus and has recently been promoted to the rank of Officer in the Order of St. John.

Ross Reynolds
Director

Ross was chair of Universal Music and chair of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization that produces the Juno Awards. He is currently working part time with a startup company trying to monetize digital file sharing. He has been on various arts and service boards including the Starlight Children’s Foundation and is currently on the board of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall.

Partner Emeritus of the international law firm of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP; Queen’s Counsel (Ontario-1975); formerly Vice President of the Belgian Canadian Business Association and Corporate Secretary and executive committee member of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Toronto; Commander of the Order of Leopold II and Officer of the Order of the Crown, both of Belgium; member of the committee on finance of St. John Council for Ontario (St. John’s Ambulance); executive committee member of The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada Trust Fund; Almoner (national fundraiser) and governing council member of the Canadian Grand Priory of the Order of St. Lazarus; Honorary Patron, Polish Orphans Charity.
